grid 8 _ disturbance

drawing, making, visualising

a-project is developing approaches to the disturbance and specific localised manipulations within grid structures using the algorithmic manipulation of framing and surfacing across a distributed field. This developing manipulation within the grid is to be tested within projects at a variety of scales that again are responsive to specific contexts and contingent factors – these factors manipulating the disturbance and deviation of an ordering framework.

a-project is developing the possibilities of a fully controlled ordering mechanism that is then subject to the disturbances and interruptions of context and the problematic situation. The localised operations and manipulations of the grids continue to be shown in an abstracted and isolated condition, but with the capacity to be applicable at scales from field conditions through to individual building elements, structures and components.

This development of the approach extends the framework construction of the grid with localised distortion, translation and manipulation.

a-project is an architectural design practice that provides a flexible architectural service that is responsive to the complexities of contemporary life and the varied situations of the built environment and client needs. It focusses on an open approach to design problems – responding to the multiple factors that shape the process of designing – from the social, economic and physical environmental challenges to historic, material and personal narratives.
