a-project is continuing to develop logics of interior surfacing and the articulation of associated¬†depth within a panelised grid construction. These constructions are formed¬†of surfaces and planes within multiple iterations of a single 3-dimensional “room” construction. The spaces are constructed as an involving manipulation of grid with an associated interrelationship of component typologies occupying the respective planar elements. Developing a rigour and flexibility of spatial operations that respond to localised manipulations and contingent implications of “grid”, and the potential of “component” typologies within this grid.

a-project is developing these “room” studies as an ongoing framework that suggests multiple possibilities for spatial definition and occupation. In this instance continuing to form an evolving logic of a single “room”, and investigating the spatial potential of diverse reconstructions of the 3d grid envelope and the associated component iterations / serial deviations affecting floor, wall, ceiling and opening.

a-project is developing the application of manipulated grid and component systems in the context of a board floor configuration. The flooring is an application of the grid and component research and is shown in consistent materiality to emphasise the flexibility and variability of the basic grid and component system. These flexible “floors” can both be responsive and controlled with specific contingent sensitivities and algorithmic serial distortions that determine the grid, boundary and component arrangements. These “floors” will be tested within projects at a variety of scales that are responsive to local contingent variables.

The floors are shown in an abstracted and isolated condition, but with the capacity to be applicable within individual “rooms” as composite floor configurations or alternatively translated into larger scales of field conditions and structures / envelopes.

a-project is developing the application of manipulated grid and component systems in the context of a tiled floor configuration. The “tiled” floor is an application of the grid and component research and is shown in binary materiality to emphasise the flexibility and variability of the basic grid and component system. These flexible “floors” can both be responsive and controlled with specific contingent sensitivities and algorithmic serial distortions that determine the grid, boundary and component arrangements. These “floors” are moderated by external boundaries or internal interstitial seams as well as the specific parameters of material distribution and component tile arrangements. These “floors” will be tested within projects at a variety of scales that are responsive to local contingent variables.

a-project is developing applications of a flexible and multiple approach to grid construction and occupation with algorithmically varied occupancy, grid definition and structural construction.

a-project continues to develop a fully digitally controlled structure of grid manipulation to be deployed at a wide range of shifting scales and uses – from floor, wall, elevation, plan to masterplan. These constructions reflect a digital sophistication and varied / multiple narratives and logics of formation with interrelated components, profiles and grid constructions.

This development of the approach extends the composition and logics of construction of the grid and the 3d operations of components within the grid structure. Diverse modules and operations demonstrate a shifting and multiple form of spatial construct.

a-project is developing flexible frameworks of modular tectonics – exploring versatile structures of frame and module manipulation as enclosures that move between “frame”, “surface”, “space” and “object” and allow for complex descriptions formed from primitive architectural elements.

The constructions allow for the multiple translations and reconstructions of form, scale and material – creating an involving framework of diverse structures of data and form that can be translated through varied specific locations and environments to deliver varied interventions and spaces.
